I love supporting small local businesses and have recently come across a little gem in Maidenhead called ‘A Feather Dream’ Run by a local Mum and qualified Interior Designer, Kirstie. If you love hand painted, up-cycled furniture and toys this one is for you!
I caught up with Kirstie and asked her why she started the business, here’s what she said…
‘Where did my business begin, well the idea of A Feather Dream Started when our Son, Alfie was small. I was looking for furniture that matched but wasn’t the standard flat pack readily produced items you get in the big stores. It was a hard find… So I began to source solid items and began restoring them. I wanted to stick to a theme so that items could be bought and match a child’s room, nursery or playroom. All items are lovingly hand painted and with the personalised items make fantastic gifts. I just love seeing items get restored and seeing children enjoying the furniture and toys I make! It’s a fantastic feeling!’
A Feather Dream is all about up cycling children’s toys and furniture with child-friendly non-toxic paint. Items can be personalised to make them special to each child and every single item is unique. Items can be sourced for you, some are handmade or you can provide an item which needs a lick of paint and a new lease of life. The best news is, it is totally affordable with prices ranging from £25-£100!
Here are just a few examples of Kirstie’s work.
Kirstie’s skills don’t stop at up cycling furniture either…She can also make oil cloth bunting, great for the garden as it is durable, weather proof and washable. Again super reasonable pricing starting at £10, with three colours to choose from (blue, pink and yellow) it can also be personalised so fab for parties, baby showers, christenings or just about any occasion you can think of!
A Feather Dream is currently stocked in two shops, one in Wokingham and in ‘2 for Joy’ in Maidenhead. Or you can contact Kirstie Directly on her Facebook page @AFeatherDream
I’m sure Kirstie would be happy to discuss your requirements 🙂
