School Holidays are always so difficult to find cheap or free things to do when you have kids. Everywhere is so busy and everything is so expensive its easy to choose to stay close to home but with the baby it would of been hell. It was also nice weather (we even managed to bust the suncream out a couple of days!) I managed to find quite a few cheap/free things to do.
The fist day of the holidays was lovely – but I had to go to work at my nanny job in the afternoon. The girls had a lovely time playing in their garden – as we don’t have one of our own they always make use of any grass wherever we go!
We had planned to stay in on the Tuesday but the kids were getting ratty so Hannah took her bike and we went on a walk around the park and nature reserve near where we live and popped by the cemetery to see my grandparents. Hannah calls it Nanny Rita’s garden which is lovely and it was the best behaved Ruby had been all day..it was also free 🙂
Mark had the day off on Wednesday so we went to Cliveden, a beautiful National Trust building, you aren’t allowed into the house, however the grounds are beautiful. As we have National Trust passes it was free. We took a picnic had a wander around the grounds and plonked ourselves down to eat and as you can see by these pics, the girls had lots of fun with crazy Mark/Daddy. We did the Easter trail which cost £3 and Hannah enjoyed this, even if I did feel it was a bit disorganised.
On the Friday I did my fist solo trip to Legoland with the girls. Again this cost me nothing because we have Merlin Passes and we took a picnic. It was VERY busy being the school holidays but we stuck to the smaller rides that Ruby could go on too. Hannah seemed quite happy with this and we were home by 2pm – result!
As it was so sunny over the weekend we went over to Marks Mum and Dads for a BBQ. We had a little wander over to Royal Holloway for a dog walk as its near to where they live. Its such a beautiful building. The dog had a good run around, Ruby napped in the buggy and we had excellent food. A great (free) day out!
Week two was pretty much a repeat of week 1. Dog walks, Bike Rides, Another trip to Legoland with friends. Hannah had a playdate and I managed to catch up on some housework.
Easter Sunday was spent over at Mark’s parents again for yummy roast lamb and all the trimmings. As Hannah was staying with her Dad it was only Me, Mark and Ruby joined by Marks sister and her Partner too. The weather had started to turn and it got quite chilly so we ended up inside most of the day, I did manage to get one picture of Ruby in her pretty dress and headband though…she didn’t seem impressed!
I hardly spent any money this school holidays but we had a blast!
What did you all get up to?
